3 Ways to Serve Falafel at a Dinner Party

The best part about falafel, is that there are some amazing ready-to-roll mixes available in supermarkets to make your life a little easier. I love Lisa’s Mediterranean or Middle Eastern Mixes.

But if you feel like getting your hands dirty in the kitchen, here is a versatile recipe from the talented The Spruce Eats Blog that can be used to complete all 3 of the below dinner party dishes.

  • 1 cup canned chickpeas, rinsed and drained
  • 1/2 onion, peeled
  • 2 cloves garlic, peeled
  • 3 tablespoons chopped cilantro (or parsley)
  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • Optional: Pinch of red pepper flakes, or any spices that you feel like getting creative with.

Place all the ingredients in a blender or food processor and mix until it is all blended - it doesn’t have to be completely smooth. Refrigerate for about 15 minutes. Form the falafel into your desired shape and gently roll in an oil of your choice (I love using 100% organic olive oil - we've got no time for palm oil babes). Place on an oven tray (or pan if your frying them) and cook in the oven for 20 to 30 minutes, or until golden.

Serve as desired with your preferred condiment and enjoy!
